Our Story

First opening on June 1, 2000, Soul Survivor Counseling Services, PC is owned and operated by Andrea J Martin, LPCC.  Soul Survivor was the natural result of a prior counseling service contract between Andrea and the Abused Adult Resource Center of Bismarck, North Dakota.  This was a collaboration designed to provide Bismarck/Mandan and surrounding communities with specialized mental health services to victims of domestic and sexual abuse.  Soul Survivor blazed the trail as the community’s first and only clinically licensed counseling practice solely dedicated to assisting those on their journey toward safety, healing, and a fulfilling life beyond the devastating effects of abuse. 

In 2008, as the counseling practice and the requests for non-violent related mental health services grew, Soul Survivor expanded services to include effective and life changing counseling services for areas NOT related to abuse. 

In January of 2012, Soul Survivor became a corporate entity and relocated offices in June of 2012, doubling the space needed to meet the ongoing demand for the highest quality of reliable, effective, and affordable counseling services. 

We have continued our growth in 2021 to include specialized behavioral health services for the treatment of chronic pain as well as telehealth services to reach more people in rural and remote areas of ND.
